MALOOF MONEY CUP

The Maloof Money Cup is a three-day, five event competition and festival hailed as the world’s greatest skateboarding competition is back for a second year. The event, created by Joe Maloof, owner of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings and the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, returns to the OC Fair & Event Center. The Maloof Money Cup is the premiere showcase for amateur and professional skateboarding. The three-day festival takes place July 10-12, 2009 during the opening weekend of the OC Fair. The Maloof Money Cup 2008 boasted the largest purse in the history of professional skateboarding with more than $450,000 in prize money awarded in three professional U.S. Championship Competitions – Men’s and Women’s Pro Street, Men’s Pro Vert and the U.S. Amateur Championships. Tickets for the 2009 Maloof Money Cup will be available at all Ticketmaster locations, online at ticketmaster.com and at the OC Fair Box Office.


ASA ENTERTAINMENT'S BIG AIR BMX TRIPLES

ASA Entertainment's Big Air BMX Triples, part of the 2009 ASA Action Sports World Tour, returns to Southern California this summer for a 3-day event, July 29-31, at the OC Super Fair. Fans will see the top professional BMX freestyle athletes soaring over the 170-foot course with powerful skill and expertise through two 25-foot jumps, and a course-ending quarter-pipe. The event starts at 8:00 p.m. each evening and offers an up close and personal view of all the action under the California stars. See men like Southern California's T.J. Ellis, Austin Coleman, Ben Snowden and Chicago's Koji Kraft and the infamous Cory Nastazio. Tickets for the Big Air BMX Triples are on sale now at all Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com. Event Admission is free with paid OC Super Fair admission. Reserved seats are available for as little as $12.50 and include Fair admission. Three-day event ticket packages are also available at a 10% discount.

The Week of the Horse

A week of interactive Equestrian Exhibits, in partnership with the Equestrian Coalition of Orange County, Livestock will be presented July 29-Aug 2. The exhibits will engage the fairgoers with performances,commentaries and crowd pleasing events.  Events will include Mustang demonstration, cutting with mechanical calf, dressage, jumping, pole bending, parade of breeds in costume and jousting.  The events will be located in the Livestock Arena, Ranch Barn and Show Ring.

 

Think Pig

Think Pig is an educational and entertaining look at a perennial barnyard favorite: the pig! This special exhibit highlights the universal relationship between pigs and people and runs from July 22 - August 9.The exhibit includes images, artifacts, collections, amusing & interesting facts, phrases, stories, folklore, and history about pigs. Emphasized throughout is the human relationship with pigs; in mythology and literature, as pets and entertainment, as hunters, medical break throughs, raising & production, and as food for the table.

 

Airbase to Fairbase

The Airbase to Fairbase exhibit is displayed in the historic Memorial Gardens and will highlight the history of the property where the OC Fair & Event Center resides. This exhibit features how the site was used as part of the Santa Ana Army Air Base during WWII, early Fair history and celebrates 60 years as the current site of the OC Fair & Event Center, including the annual OC Fair.
