Bill Magee - 7/31 - 8/4
Jimi Hendrix was performing as Jimmy James when Bill Magee met, befriended and eventually joined up with Hendrix to form the band “Jimmy James and the Flames.” In 1967, Hendrix went to England, and Magee took his newly formed band, the “Kansas City Playboys” on a tour around Europe. The rest is history. Now after a brief hiatus, Bill Magee has felt the pull of the Blues once again and come out of retirement … lucky for us all.

U.S. Army Village - July 26
U.S. Army Village will be located just outside Blue Gate. Army Village will include military equipment, vehicles, a recruiting booth, Reserve Unit exhibits and displays and the AS1 Adventure Semi. The AS1 is a 60ft, 30 ton tractor /trailer that is a self-contained simulation system. It possesses simulators such as the M1A1 Abrams Tank Simulator, M9 Simulator, the Apache Flight Simulator, UAV Simulator and the EOD Interactive Robotic Arm Simulator. In addition, AS1 comes with two touch-screen computers with internet and Career Navigator capabilities, static displays and Army Leadership, Educational, Options and Opportunities videos.

Swing It Trapeze will perform gravity-defying shows featuring high-flying flips and more. Showtimes are 1 pm, 2:30 pm. 4 pm, and 6 pm with additional weekend performances at 7:30 pm.

U.S. Army Day festivities will open with a rousing parade lead by the U.S. Army’s Marching Band beginning on grounds at 12:45 pm and ending at Plaza Arts Stage at 1:15 pm. The U.S. Army Color Guard will precede the Future Soldier Swearing-in Ceremony scheduled at 1:30 pm on Plaza Arts Stage. Performances by the U.S. Army’s Ska and Classic Rock bands are set to take place immediately afterwards. Reserve Unit displays will be in place until 5 pm.
