$2 Taste of Fair Food Get a sampling of the tasty food at the 2014 OC Fair for only $2 each every Friday Noon-4 p.m. Fun-sized samples include funnel cake, BBQ tri-tip, lemonade, cinnamon rolls, corn dogs, tacos, gelato, cotton candy and more.

Chef Challenge: Cooking With the Elements Watch local culinary professionals show off their chops and go head-to-head in a series of live cooking challenges of cooking with an element: July 18 (Earth), July 25 (Water), August 1 (Air) and August 8 (Fire). Each challenge is at 7 p.m. in the OC Promenade and is free with Fair admission.

Chicken Charlie is introducing the new-for-2014 Deep-Fried Doritos and Deep Fried Chicken Skin in addition to his classic favorite fried treats of Oreos, cookie dough and Twinkies.

Bacon A-Fair is introducing Bacon-Wrapped Jack Daniels, a unique churro concoction with a little whiskey kick at the end (non-alcoholic of course). Also, a deep fried bacon wrapped turkey leg!

Biggy’s Meat Market is bringing gluten-free options this summer with GF hamburger buns, fries & a newly gluten-free The Big Rib.

Texas Donuts is putting a twist on its popular giant donuts with new flavors like Cherry Pop Rocks, Banana Chocolate Cream and Peanut Butter Cup. Also new this year, a Latin twist with the new deep-fried Gansito.

More New Food: Emeril Bam Dog (9-inch beef dog topped with mustard bacon, coleslaw & jalapenos), Colonel Klink Dog (beef dog topped with mustard swiss cheese sauerkraut & pastrami), Garlic Parmesan Tasti Shakers, Pastrami Ten Pound Bun and Chile Relleno Burger.

Carla Hall is Chef and owner of Carla Hall Petite Cookies, co-hosts ABC’s “The Chew” and appeared on “Top Chef.” Watch Carla’s French and Southern cooking style live at the OC Fair on Thursday, July 17 at 4 p.m.

Roy Choi

Roy Choi operates multiple restaurants in Los Angeles, including Chego!, A-Frame and Sunny Spot. Roy is best known for his taco truck Kogi BBQ that specializes in Mexican and Korean cuisine. Watch Roy’s creative Latin-Asian fusion cooking live at the OC Fair on Thursday, July 24 at 4 p.m.

Kelsey Nixon competed on “The Next Food Network Star” and is currently host of “Kelsey’s Essentials” on the Cooking Channel. Kelsey has been a private chef, taught lessons at Sur La Table and created dishes for various chain restaurants. Watch Kelsey’s simple but tasting cooking methods live at the OC Fair on Thursday, July 31 at 4 p.m.

OC Promenade – Culinary

Bakeology: Learn the origins of baking and the history of everything related to baking through the decades daily. Displays include Flour Power, Baking Equipment and Bake Beliefs. Additionally, Chef Rachel Klemeck and other talented chefs from Blackmarket Bakery in Irvine, CA will be off ering demonstrations on how to bake handmade, from-scratch specialties daily at 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Greggy Soriano – The Cake Lush is a talented and entertaining cake decorator is best known as a contestant on the first season of “Cake Boss: The Next Great Baker” who will demonstrate his decorating prowess daily July 11-27.

Culinary Demonstrations will be featured daily from three culinary masters:

Master Food Preserver Ernest Miller will offer his tips on preserving vegetables, fruits, sauces and more.
Food Sculptor Chef Ray Duey will amaze as he beautifully transforms an average melon and other fruit or vegetable into a stunning work of art.
Shaile’s Edible Arts will show Fairgoers how to take sugar and turn it into sweet displays of edible flowers. Local chefs and culinary wizards will offer culinary demonstrations throughout the run of the Fair. Check the full schedule online at ocfair.com or on the OC Fair’s mobile app.

Eating contests are held nightly. Sign-ups start a half hour before each night’s contest, times vary.
