During the 21-day run
of the 2007 OC Fair,
fairgoers are invited, as
poet William Blake once wrote,
"To see the world in a grain of
sand."
In his first public U.S.
appearance, internationally
renowned Sand Animation
Master Ferenc Cako will
magically transform grains of
sand into visual masterpieces
nightly on Plaza Arts Stage at
8:15 and 10 p.m.
Using only sand, light and
his hands, Cako swirls from
image to image in a melodic
dance set to some of the world's
most recognized symphonic
compositions.
Adding to the mysticism of
Fair nights, the Peking Acrobats
return for a third year with their
mesmerizing spectacular combining
Chinese acrobatics, comedy,
balancing feats, and other acts
of human strength and agility.
They perform daily on Plaza
Arts Stage at 5 p.m., 7 p.m. and
9 p.m.
Slightly less mystical but
just as entertaining, the wildness
of Lucha Libre, Mexican freestyle
wrestling, returns to the
OC Register Arena on July 28
and 29 at 8 p.m. Witness the
ultimate battle of good versus
evil in leotards, tights, and
colorful masks as La Parka,
Blue Panther, Super Astro,
Medico Asasino Jr., Huracan
Ramirez Jr., Super Kendo, and
the WPW Superstars take to
the ring.
Fairgoers can get up out of
their seats and dance the Fair
night way with Viva El Mariachi
on July 22 in the OC Register
Arena at 8 p.m. Jose Hernandez
returns with his Mariachi del
Sol of Mexico for a night of
Latin flair and sounds.
In addition to the featured
international entertainment
during the 2007 OC Fair,
fairgoers can enjoy folklorico,
Polynesian, Russian, Chinese
lion, and Korean American
dancers. Performances are
scheduled throughout the 21
days of the Fair on Main Mall
Stage and Plaza Arts Stage.
The OC Fair is July 13 to
August 5, and is closed on
Mondays. Fair hours are Noon
to Midnight, Tuesday through
Friday, and 10 a.m. to Midnight
on Saturday and Sunday.
