Hangar Building
The temporary structure which will house the new “Al’s Brain” attraction during the 2009 OC Fair is being installed.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
Crews are installing the radius roofing that covers the center section of the new roof. Trim pieces of the structure are also being completed.
New Administration Building
Sitework around the building has begun with the installation of landings, stairways, ramps and the blending of walkways and the building. Because of safety and logistical concerns, administrative departments and staff that will eventually be housed in the new building will work out of temporary offices through the run of the 2009 Fair. The Reception office is located inside Gate 8 located off Arlington Drive on the north end of the property and can be reached by calling (714) 708-1500. Guests, visitors and business associates are recommended to check with their OCFEC contact before coming to the property.
Old Administration Building
OCFEC crews are converting a portion of the equestrian center into a temporary campground with sewer, water and electrical. This area will be for Fairtime vendors and partners only and will not be available for public rentals.

Hangar Building
Crews are pouring buttress footings for the bow truss entrance and cutting the existing asphalt surface to match the new elevations.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
Crews are continuing the installation of windows in the roof portion of the Breezeway. The remaining portions of steel beams are slated to be delivered soon.
New Administration Building
Stucco has been applied to the exterior of the building and crews are installing the HVAC units and pulling wire to the electrical vault.
Old Administration Building
Crews will pour the asphalt walkways this week and install fill in patches with new grass.
Miscellaneous: Next week, crews will begin working on converting portions of the current equestrian center area to a campground area for Fairtime. |

Southern California Edison worked this week to complete the conduit run for the building’s power supply.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
Crews have completed the siding and are installing the windows in the roof portion of the Breezeway. The remaining portions of steel beams are slated to be delivered by the end of this month.
New Administration Building
The building’s interior drywall is half complete. The delivery of electrical and telecom is expected by the end of the month. Exterior lathing in preparation for the stucco covering is near completion. The first coat of stucco is anticipated to be added as early as Monday.
Old Administration Building
Crews have been grading the area to prep for asphalt and new sod. Next month, crews will add the asphalt walkways that will make up the new Meadows area during the 2009 Fair.

Hangar Building
The contracted electrical crew and Southern California Edison are working to complete the conduit run and hardware installation for the building’s power supply. The formed footings for the entryway “bow-truss” is under construction.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
The lower roofline metal sheeting is expected to be completed mid-May. Once that is complete, the side paneling and windows will be installed. The patterned concrete floor will be sealed with a clear finish similar to the floor finish in Parade of Products. The steel entry gates on the west and east ends are being installed.
New Administration Building
The interior framing, rough electrical, rough plumbing, and HVAC ducting have been completed. Next, crews will begin to install drywall.

Underground infrastructure installation is complete. Now, grading, irrigation and the layout for patterned walkways and landscape will be started. |

Hangar Building
Crews continue to work on the perimeter site work. Crews are also laying conduit for the new transformer unit located north of Building 16 to provide power to the new building.

Roof installation will continue through the weekend.

Crews have finished the interior framing and are finishing the rough-in plumbing and electrical. A block wall on the north end of the building off Arlington Drive will begin construction.

Hangar Building
Despite an all-grounds event this past weekend, construction of stairways, ramps and the loading dock progressed smoothly behind the scenes.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
Metal sheeting and finish material for the roof are being installed. Crews are also installing the steel gates and preparing the area for the stucco finish.
New Administration Building
The interior framing is close to completion and the definition of the office layout is noticeable. Heating and air ducts are being installed.
Miscellaneous: The first phase of the Lot P project has been completed with the laying of asphalt, upgraded tree island landscape design and drainage solution. The renovation of the Green Gate area has been completed. The exterior of Building 10 will be given a new coat of paint. The project will last until the end of this month and traffic and parking will be diverted from the building to prevent damage and injury. |

A large tent has been erected on the concrete flooring of the new building to house Pet Expo exhibitors this weekend only.

Construction is moving toward completion with final grade and paving expected on Wednesday. The east and west ends of the structure are complete.

Crews continue to install framing and trusses for the roof.
Miscellaneous: OCFEC crews are pouring concrete for new, stronger footings to hold the newly installed barrier gate at Gate 2 (Vanguard). Next week during the break between Pet Expo and the Home Show, crews will paint the three exterior walls of Building 10. Next week, crews will add the final layer of paving in the Lot P project. |

Crews continue to install framing and trusses for the roof.
Miscellaneous: OCFEC crews are completing the upgrade of Gate 1 with the final steps of adding plants and seeding. Damaged areas of the sidewalk will also be repaired as part of the upgrade. The footings for the newly installed Gate 2 will be replaced with a stronger foundation to hold the heavier barrier gates. The painting of the Parade of Products ceiling is scheduled to be completed this week. Exterior painting of the remaining three walls of Building 10 will be scheduled for after Pet Expo and before Fair. |

Crews are grading and compacting to prepare for concrete walkways, stair access and the loading dock at the east and north elevations of the building.

The west end facades and barricades were removed this week so crews can begin blending the existing asphalt with the new front of the buildings.

As roof framing continues, wood and steel trusses are being tied together to create the roof design element of the building.

The OCFEC Maintenance crews have dug up and replaced the water system with a leaner, more efficient system to service the area of the former building.
Miscellaneous: New footings were installed for the barrier gate at Gate 10 (Newport Blvd). OCFEC crews are finishing the upgrades of Gates 1 and 2 (Fair and Vanguard). The Parade of Products ceiling will be pressure washed, primed and painted by next week. OCFEC crews have finished upgrading the Park Plaza restrooms. |

Hangar Building
Crews are doing perimeter site work and checking elevations and grades for walkways and entrances planned for the new building. Crews are also setting the footings for the bow (ceiling) trussing and preparing to install the steel columns for the building’s side walls.
Buildings 14/16 Breezeway (a.k.a. East Breezeway)
The second elevation of the steel framing for the ceiling is currently being completed. Next, windows will be added to the entire lateral expanse between rooflines. Plumbers and electricians are also installing fire sprinklers and lighting conduit runs.

Support beams and roof trussing are being installed. The steel is being set to frame the expansive front and back pation windows.
Old Administration Building
Crews are capping the former utilities and prepping the area for installation of new underground utilities.
Miscellaneous: After this weekend’s Gun Show, crews will paint the ceiling of the Parade of Products. OCFEC crews are also finishing the upgrade of Lot P with the addition of new grass. Next, crews will begin preparing the area inside the Green Gate that is designated for the new Market Place Village during the 2009 OC Super Fair. Trees will be relocated and asphalt will be added within the next couple of months. |

Next week, crews will finish another concrete pour for the floor.

Crews will finish pouring concrete for the floor and then steel for the Breezeway ceiling will begin being lifted into place.
New Administration Building
Crews have begun wall framing.
Old Administration Building
The main building has been completely removed. The west trailers will remain for staff until the new building is completed.
Miscellaneous: OCFEC crews completed installing new sewer lines at California Grill in Building 10 to replace the ones that had rotted out. Crews are finishing the landscaping between Gates 1 and 2 by adding seeding for new grass. In Parking Lot P, curbs for the new islands have been poured. Next, crews will complete some basic grading until after this weekend’s all-grounds event when final landscaping can be added. |

The first section of the concrete floor has been poured. Next, the second section will be poured, which will provide a steel laydown area.

Weather permitting, the concrete floor will be poured in two phases in order to create a patterned design.

The utilities infrastructure is nearly complete. Crews are still working on the framing of the building.
Old Administration Building
At the end of last week, Costa Mesa Fire Department conducted training in the building. This week, crews began disassembling the main building and will be completed before next week. All viable materials will be donated to either Habitat for Humanity or to make homes in impoverished areas in Mexico.
Miscellaneous: Gate 10 will be replaced with a new traffic gate design by next week. The Park Plaza restroom is close to completion. The palm trees from the islands in Lot P have been relocated to the Pacific Amphitheatre concourse. The ceiling in the Parade of Products will be repainted in April. |
