Make It, Take It – Food Preservation: Chili Sauce & Mustard

    January 26, 2019 10:00 am

In honor of Super Bowl 2019 and her recent trip to Singapore, Instructor Pamela will be teaching how to make and steam can two ultimate game-day condiments: Singapore Chili Sauce and Lemon-Sage Wine Mustard. This is the perfect class for anyone who wants to learn but has no idea where to start. Instruction includes safety best practices, simple recipes that are foolproof and guaranteed to impress, and skills to apply to any recipe.

    Singapore Chili Sauce
This chili sauce could be described as an Asian version of Tabasco sauce. Although it makes a nice accompaniment to cold roast chicken or beef and is great on hot dogs and burgers, this sauce is particularly delicious with Asian dishes such as noodles and pot stickers.

    Lemon-Sage Wine Mustard
Subtle lemon and sage accents enhance the flavor of this mild mustard. Stir it into vegetable salads or serve it with grilled vegetables and meats. This mustard also goes hand in hand with ketchup as a condiment for occasions such as Super Bowl Sunday.

    When: Saturday, Jan. 26, at 10 a.m.

Where: OC Fair & Event Center – Centennial Farm’s Silo Building

How much:$25 covers cost of materials/handouts. Bring one 8-ounce and one 4-ounce canning jar (Kerr or Ball), each with screw band ring and lid. It is also recommended that you bring your favorite knife and apron, as well as a hair tie.
