Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project returns to Heroes Hall, featuring the stories of six local veterans


COSTA MESA (May 3, 2018) – Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project is returning to Heroes Hall on Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. for its next installment of personal and poignant stories of service.

The public reading event is the culmination of a six-week veterans’ initiative, which provides service men and women with a creative outlet and empowers them to share their memories of military duty and how their experiences have shaped them.

Participants in this Voices installment will include:

Danny Marquez of Bloomington – U.S. Army ’76-’79, E-5 Sergeant.
Adrianne Parks of Huntington Beach – U.S. Army Signal Corps ’76-’83, Captain.
Jeanne McCarthy of Lake Elsinore – Army National Guard ’99-’01, Armor Engineer ’01-’04, Active Army Supply Sgt. E-4 Corporal. (Reading by Dallis Warshaw of Yorba Linda)
Bonnie Silver of San Clemente – U.S. Army ’92-’98, E-5 Sargent (P).
Michelle Evans of Lake Forest – U.S. Air Force ’73-’80, E-4 Sergeant.

Held at Heroes Hall at OC Fair & Event Center, Voices is a collaboration with Heroes Hall, Arts Orange County and Veterans First, and is supported through grants from the California Arts Council, National Endowment for the Arts, Orange County Community Foundation and the William J. Gillespie Foundation.

Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project, a program of Arts Orange County (ArtsOC), began in 2015 as a way to help address issues raised in the Orange County Community Foundation 2014 report The State of the American Veteran: The Orange County Veterans Study, which found that military veterans coming home to Orange County are significantly underprepared for civilian life.
