Junior Livestock Auction

OC Fair’s annual Junior Livestock Auction supports 4-H and FFA agriculture education programs throughout Orange County. During the 2025 OC Fair, the Junior Livestock Auction will take place on Saturday, July 26. Bidding at the OC Fair will be in person with add-on contributions online only. Market shows will be held in person and viewing will be available during OC Fair public hours.

Bidding: In person at the OC Fair on Saturday, July 27.
Add-On Contributions: Online only from Saturday, July 27, through Tuesday, July 29, at 11:59 p.m.

Only the highest quality livestock are available through the OC Fair Junior Livestock Auction. Market beef, goats, lambs, hogs, turkeys, broilers, ducks and rabbits that earn a blue ribbon, market-ready award are permitted to sell in the auction. All Champions, Reserve Champions, Grand Champions and Reserve Grand Champions in each species are required to sell in the auction. Champion turkey, broilers, ducks and rabbits must sell at the auction; no other turkeys, broilers, ducks or rabbits will be sold in the auction.

ADMISSION

Fair admission tickets must be purchased online in advance and will not be available for purchase at the gate. Saturdays are busy and normally sell out, so be sure to buy your tickets early; tickets go on sale April 4!
Ticket prices: $15 (general), $9 (seniors 60+ and youth ages 6-12), free for children 5 and younger.

2024 Buyers will be sent two admission tickets.
2024 Add-On Contribution Participants (over $100) will be sent one admission ticket.

SALE PRICES BY HEAD

All species of livestock will be sold by the head, not by the pound.

SPECIE ROTATION

Species will no longer be rotated, or mixed, throughout the sale order. While not specifically in this order, but as an example, all lambs will be sold, then all goats, then all beef, etc.

    Species rotation is:

  • Small animals (turkeys, ducks, rabbits and broilers)
  • Lambs
  • Hogs
  • Goats
  • Beef

MEAL WRISTBAND

Meal wristbands can be purchased for $25 per wristband. Meal wristbands are good for one breakfast and one lunch plate (as supplies last).

NEW BUYERS

New buyers (i.e. you did not make a purchase in last year’s auction). New buyers can park inside Gate 10 off Newport Boulevard and enter the Fair through Yellow Gate. Parking is $15.

How to Register as a New Buyer

RETURNING BUYERS

2025 buyers are automatically registered for this year’s auction and will be sent information directly. Last year’s buyers will be given two meal wristbands, valid for up to two meals each. Additional meal wristbands can be purchased for $25 per wristband for guests and new buyers.


How to Participate in Animal Purchasing Experience (in person)

 
Step 1

Fair admission tickets must be purchased online in advance and will not be available for purchase at the gate. Saturdays are busy and normally sell out, so be sure to buy your tickets early; tickets go on sale April 4!
• 2024 buyers will be sent two admission tickets.
• 2024 add-on contributors (over $100) will be sent one admission ticket.

Step 2

Register and check-in as a buyer on the Livestock Office patio on auction day. All buyers must have a mobile number available in order to register.

2024 buyers are automatically registered for this year’s auction and will be sent information for this year’s auction directly. Last year’s buyers are listed by first name and can pick up their packet with the sales book, bid paddle and two wristbands each with two complimentary meals. Additional guests must purchase meal wristbands at the Livestock Showring.

Add-on contributions are online only; see instructions below on how to contribute to sellers.

• MEALS
Meal wristbands can be purchased for $25 per wristband.

• SPECTATORS (individuals not bidding)
Spectators do not need to register. Check out the auction on the sidelines of the Livestock Showring.


How to Participate in Add-On Contribution Experience (online only)

 
STEP 1

Visit the website for up-to-date information. On Sunday, July 27, the OC Fair Junior Livestock Auction will be available to view and start accepting add-ons. Add-ons can only be done online from July 27 through July 29 at 11:59 p.m. Add-on contributions will NOT be accepted in person.

STEP 2

Make an add-on contribution. Add-on participants must register as a new buyer. 
• Use the search bar to filter for the exhibitor you are looking for. 
• Indicate the add-on amount you want to pay ($20 minimum per lot) for your selected exhibitor.
• Keep track of your total add-ons. Near the top of your screen, you will see Buyer Totals with total cost of add-on amounts.

STEP 3

Make payment.
• Add-on contributions MUST pay online after completing your add-ons. Congratulations and thank you for supporting Orange County youth through the OC Fair Junior Livestock Auction.
