Make It, Take It – Food Preservation with UCCE Master Food Preservers

In this hands-on session, participants will prepare a low-sugar raspberry jam while learning techniques to make jams, jellies and preserves using low sugar, honey and alternative sweeteners. The class will also feature a flavorful, zesty zucchini relish made with a blend of zucchini, onions, sweet peppers, spices and jalapeños. Along the way, the instructors will share tips on safe preservation methods and creative ways to enjoy your homemade goods. Each participant will take home a jar of the jam and relish made during class.

When: Saturday, May 17, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; RSVP online by May 9.
Where: OC Fair & Event Center – Centennial Farm Silo Building
How much: $45 class fee covers ingredients, handouts and two canning jars with lids and rings. Knives will be provided, but you may bring your own if preferred. Tied-back hair and closed-toe shoes are required. Parking is free.
