Courageous Companions: Animals in American Wars
From the cavalry horses of the Civil War to the messenger pigeons of World War I and the bomb-detection dogs of today, animals have served alongside American soldiers in every major conflict. “Courageous Companions: Animals in American Wars” honors these unsung heroes whose loyalty, instinct and bravery have saved countless lives on the battlefield. Through artifacts, photographs and personal stories, the exhibit explores the deep bonds forged between service members and their animal partners in times of war.
