COSTA MESA (June 30, 2021) – The OC Fair’s Junior Livestock Auction and competitions will take place ahead of this year’s fair and the auction will be online only. Buyers can register and find out how the auction will run virtually at https://ocfair.com/oc-fair/competitions-contests/jr-livestock-auction/.
Buyers involvement in the auction, either through purchasing livestock or providing add-ons, help to support local agriculture students and their projects.
The OC Fair’s support of agriculture is central to its mission and is a key component of each year’s summer celebration.
The youth market competition includes beef, hogs, lambs, goats, dairy cattle, poultry, rabbits and showmanship. Market livestock judging takes place prior to the OC Fair and is not open to the public in 2021.
The Junior Livestock Auction will begin closing lots on Saturday, July 10, starting at 9 a.m. and will feature eBay-style bidding. Buyers can begin placing bids and add-ons Friday, July 9. There will be no in-person auction this year at the fairgrounds, but photos will be supplied on the auction website of each animal available for purchase.
“We are so happy to be able to bring back the livestock competitions and Junior Livestock Auction this year and to help the public support our local 4-H and FFA students who work so hard and learn so much with their projects,” said Evy Young, OC Fair’s agriculture education supervisor. “It is so important to recognize the hard work and dedication of these students who spend months raising their animals and being immersed in agriculture.”
Only the highest quality livestock are available through the OC Fair Junior Livestock Auction. Market beef, goats, lambs, hogs, turkeys, broilers and rabbits that earn a blue ribbon, market-ready award are permitted to sell in the auction. All Champions, Reserve Champions, Grand Champions and Reserve Grand Champions in each species are required to sell in the auction. Champion turkey, broilers and rabbits must sell at the auction; no other turkeys, broilers or rabbits will be sold in the auction.
All are welcome to participate in the Junior Livestock Auction and can register in advance to bid. Detailed information is available in the auction handbook on ocfair.com.
Key things to know about the 2021 OC Fair:
· A limited number of tickets are available each day
· Advance online ticket sales only – no transaction fees
· Tickets are good only for the date purchased; please choose dates carefully – no refunds
· Same-day Fair admission is included with tickets to concerts during the Fair
· OC Fair is not currently planning to increase capacity
· Ticket prices will not increase
· Sales are no longer restricted to California residents
· Masks are required indoors for unvaccinated guests
Tickets are $12 weekday general admission (Wednesday, Thursday) and $14 weekend general admission (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). Admission for seniors (60+) and youth (ages 6-12) is $7 every day and children 5 and younger are free.

The Fair will open each day at 10 a.m. and close at 11 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays and midnight on weekends.
General parking is still $10, $20 for buses and limos, credit card only. The free shuttle from Experian and OCTA’s OC Fair Express bus service will not be available this year. Carnival tickets are also on sale now so fairgoers can skip the ticket booths, and tickets for concerts in The Hangar and Pacific Amphitheatre can be found at ocfair.com/entertainment.
