OC Fair & Event Center February 2017 Events Calendar Features Heroes Hall Grand Opening, Garden Classes & More


Costa Mesa, Calif. (February 2017) – The OC Fair & Event Center is home to a variety of events throughout the year. Here is the current February 2017 events calendar:

February 2017 at the OC Fair & Event Center

4 Centennial Farm Garden Class: Southern California Avocados
Isabel Barkman will cover the basic tasks of growing avocado trees, including choosing varieties, site selection, planting, irrigation, and year-round care.
Hours: Saturday, 9:30 a.m. (Classes last 1.5-2 hours unless otherwise specified.)

15 Heroes Hall Grand Opening
The OC Fair & Event Center’s new veterans museum officially opens its doors to the public. Attendees can see the inaugural exhibitions “The SAAAB Story” and “The Things They Carried.” Heroes Hall will be open daily 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit ocfair.com/heroeshall for full details on exhibitions and programming.

16 Fight Club OC
Boxing and MMA together on the same night inside the same ring. Fight Club OC is where your fights and entertainment are guaranteed.

18 Centennial Farm Garden Class: Urban Chickens Demystified (Advanced)
Therry Vargas and Lindsey Koob will focus on what is needed to raise healthy, happy and productive backyard chickens for those already familiar with caring for chickens. Therry and Lindsey will also teach about chicken feed and will help attendees create their own custom blend.

24-26 Gem Faire
Featuring the finest in gems, beads, fine jewelry, costume jewelry, minerals, crystals, lapidary equipment, imports and much more from around the world.

24-26 The 40th Annual OC Home & Garden Show

25 Centennial Farm Garden Class: Home Grown Tomatoes (Beginner)
If there is just one edible plant that you should choose to grow at home, it is the tomato. Nowhere else is the contrast in flavor, nutrition and variety between “home-grown” and “store-bought” more evident. This how-to class for beginners will provide all the practical knowledge necessary to begin growing tomatoes today. Learn which varieties to grow, how to plant and care for tomatoes and common diseases and pests that afflict them.

25-26 International Goodwill Karate-Do Championships
Enjoy two days of competitions from members of Shito-Ryu Genbu-Kai. Saturday features weapons competitions from 9-11 a.m. and sword competitions 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday features Karate-Do from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and, new this year, Karate-do and Kobudo competitions for special needs competitors. Please note, end times for competitions is approximate. Some competitions may go longer than listed.

Centennial Farm
Three-acre working farm designed to educate youth and their families about agriculture and its importance to daily life with fruit and vegetable gardens, livestock and the Millennium Barn.
Hours: Monday-Friday 1-4 p.m., Saturday-Sunday 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

Heroes Hall Veterans Museum
The OC Fair & Event Center’s permanent, onsite veterans museum that celebrates the legacy of Orange County veterans and others who have served our nation with a year-round tribute to their stories. Exhibitions will rotate semi-annually and will focus on the aspects of personal experiences of veterans.
