Events happening at OC Fair & Event Center in October include OC Japan Fair, SoCal VegFest, and Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project.

♦ Oct. 4, Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN

Negrete vs. Franco is a 10-round fight for the NABF Bantamweight Title presented by Golden Boy Promotions. ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will air the fights beginning at 7:30 p.m.; ESPN 3 will livestream the fights beginning at 6 p.m.

When: Thursday, Oct. 4, 5-10 p.m. at The Hangar

♦ Oct. 6-7, Crossroads of the West Gun Show

Two-day gun and western Americana show with guns, accessories, tactical gear, ammunition, safes, personal protection products and more.

The most exciting, colorful and unpredictable live-action racing event in the nation. Costa Mesa Speedway has put fans right on top of all the action from the comfort of arena-style grandstand seating since 1969. Suitable for the whole family.

♦ Oct. 11, Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project

Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project is returning to Heroes Hall for its next installment of personal and poignant stories of service. Producer Dave Barton works with veterans offering them basics on how to write and shape their life experience into something that can be shared in a public forum. The workshops will culminate with the veteran’s story being shared in a free public performance. The reading is suggested for mature audiences.

When: Thursday, Oct. 11, 7 p.m. at Heroes Hall

♦ Oct. 12-14, Gem Faire

Enjoy Japanese food, culture, traditions and innovations at one of the largest Japanese cultural festivals in Southern California. OC Japan Fair includes shopping, tasting and learning about Japanese culture. There will also be live performance, games, kimono models and more.

When: Friday, Oct. 19, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 20, Noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
