Events happening at OC Fair & Event Center in October include OC Japan Fair, SoCal VegFest, and Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project.

♦ Oct. 4, Golden Boy Boxing on ESPN

Negrete vs. Franco is a 10-round fight for the NABF Bantamweight Title presented by Golden Boy Promotions. ESPN2 and ESPN Deportes will air the fights beginning at 7:30 p.m.; ESPN 3 will livestream the fights beginning at 6 p.m.

When: Thursday, Oct. 4, 5-10 p.m. at The Hangar

♦ Oct. 6-7, Crossroads of the West Gun Show

Two-day gun and western Americana show with guns, accessories, tactical gear, ammunition, safes, personal protection products and more.

When: Saturday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. & Sunday, Oct. 7, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
How much: $18 general admission; children 12 and younger are free when accompanied by a parent or guardian. Parking is $8.

♦ Oct. 6, Costa Mesa Speedway – 50th US National Speedway Championship

The most exciting, colorful and unpredictable live-action racing event in the nation. Costa Mesa Speedway has put fans right on top of all the action from the comfort of arena-style grandstand seating since 1969. Suitable for the whole family.

When: Saturday, 6-10 p.m. at Action Sports Arena

Boxing and MMA together on the same night inside the same ring. Fight Club OC is where your fights and entertainment are guaranteed.

♦ Oct. 11, Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project

Voices – Veterans Storytelling Project is returning to Heroes Hall for its next installment of personal and poignant stories of service. Producer Dave Barton works with veterans offering them basics on how to write and shape their life experience into something that can be shared in a public forum. The workshops will culminate with the veteran’s story being shared in a free public performance. The reading is suggested for mature audiences.

When: Thursday, Oct. 11, 7 p.m. at Heroes Hall
How much: Free admission

♦ Oct. 12-14, Gem Faire

♦ Oct. 13-14, Repticon – Reptile & Exotic Animal Show

Repticon Los Angeles at Costa Mesa is a reptile event featuring vendors offering reptile pets, supplies, feeders, cages, and merchandise as well as live animal seminars and frequent free raffles for coveted prizes.

♦ Oct. 19-21, OC Japan Fair

Enjoy Japanese food, culture, traditions and innovations at one of the largest Japanese cultural festivals in Southern California. OC Japan Fair includes shopping, tasting and learning about Japanese culture. There will also be live performance, games, kimono models and more.

When: Friday, Oct. 19, 5-11 p.m.; Saturday, Oct. 20, Noon-10 p.m.; and Sunday, Oct. 21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
How much: $8 general admission; $5 pre-sale online. Children 6 and under and seniors 65+ are free. Parking is $8.

SoCal VegFest is an annual vegan festival with lots of free samples, entrees and drinks to purchase, marketplace, speakers, food demos, celebrity chefs, social media celebs, famous musicians and DJs, comedians, yogis, games, kids area and more.

When: Saturday & Sunday, Oct. 20 & 21, 11 a.m.-6 p.m.
