Speaker Series #6 at Heroes Hall Museum

Heroes Hall Museum presents its new speaker series, which will run through September on select Saturday mornings. The series will be about the tremendous achievements and challenges Black service members and other groups have faced while serving in the U.S. armed forces, and is hosted in conjunction with the museum’s newest exhibit, Fighting for the Right to Fight: African American Experiences in World War II.

Our Service, Our Stories: The LGBT Military Experience
In celebration of Pride Month in June, the Fighting for the Right to Fight Speaker Series will feature the documentary film Our Service, Our Stories followed by a panel discussion with lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) military veterans. The veterans will share their experiences serving in the U.S. armed forces from the Vietnam era through the conflicts in the Middle East. They will address a variety of topics including the challenges they faced as LGBT service members, the devastating impacts of the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell policy, and how to right the wrong.
