OC Fair’s Imaginology returns April 11–12 with free STEAM fun for everyone

Have you ever wondered how math can help you cook, what causes a rainbow or how baby chicks know when to hatch?

Set a course full STEAM ahead at OC Fair’s Imaginology, returning Saturday and Sunday, April 11–12 for a weekend where science, technology, engineering, art, agriculture and math come alive through hands-on discovery.

Imaginology invites kids and families to explore a world of wonder through interactive exhibits, take-home crafts, live entertainment and youth competitions designed to inspire curiosity and spark interest in future academic and career paths. From preschoolers to high school students, there’s something for everyone — and all are welcome to participate.

Held at OC Fair & Event Center, Imaginology is open both days from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free, with most activities included. Food options will be available for purchase and parking is $15.

Save the date, because this year’s festival will feature a packed schedule of engaging experiences, including:

Youth competitions – open now
Orange County students can showcase their creativity and skills in free competitions, including a mural project, poster art, cardboard engineering and upcycled projects. For more information, visit ocfair.com/steam.

Centennial Farm experiences
Visitors can explore OC Fair & Event Center’s three-acre working farm, featuring amazing animals and California crops. Activities include oxen exhibits, blacksmithing, chicken education, radish-seed planting, terrarium making and an OC Beekeepers exhibit.

Free hands-on activities
Exhibitors from across the region will offer demonstrations, make-and-take projects and interactive experiences that blend learning with fun.

Family-friendly entertainment
The Imaginology stage will spotlight local performers, from singing groups to dance troupes — perfect for a fun break between activities.

Livestock competitions
Local 4-H and FFA youth will be judged on livestock projects, animal and veterinary science knowledge and a range of educational exhibits, all taking place during Imaginology. Competitions showcasing llamas and rabbits will also be part of the agriculture experience!

Now in its 37th year, Imaginology debuted in 1989 as Youth Expo and was renamed in 2014 to reflect its expanded focus on STEAM and agricultural education. Today, it stands as OC Fair & Event Center’s largest community give-back event, welcoming thousands of families each year to learn by doing.

Imaginology is where curious kids and families go to discover, create and imagine together — exploring STEAM concepts in ways that are fun, accessible and inspiring.
