    How to make garden-fresh pesto

    Our friend Pam, the culinary arts supervisor, has another recipe for us today: garden pesto! We thought this would be a good, easy recipe for a yummy Sunday dinner.

    County fairs work hard to educate the public about agriculture, and that includes showing livestock. But the OC Fair has many other types of animals too – from birds to oxen and everything in between! Here are just a few of the types of animals found at the OC Fair over the past few years.

    How to make a terrarium at home

    Our friend Barbara, who is in charge of the landscaping on the fairgrounds, is here today to teach you how to put together a cute little terrarium at home!

    If you make a terrarium at home with your kids, take a pic and show them off – we’d love to see them!

    What you need: clamshell, pea gravel, horticultural charcoal, potting soil, worm castings, a variety of small succulents, and decorations such as sand, reindeer moss and trinkets.

    Take a virtual ride on the Sky Ride

    Here’s a video from the archives to put you right in the middle of a recent OC Fair!

    The Sky Ride is the very first ride that gets built by RCS every year ahead of the annual OC Fair – yes, even before La Grande Wheel XL! It takes you on a one-way trip between Green Gate and Yellow Gate, flying high above the crowds, giving you a gorgeous view of everyone’s favorite fair.

    How to make fried Oreos

    Our friend Dominic of “The Midway Gourmet” is here to teach you how to make fried Oreos at home.

    You’ll need: Krusteaz pancake batter, Oreos, wooden skewers, oil, and powdered sugar to top them off!
