Discovery Day at the Farm, Feb. 4

Discovery Days at Centennial Farm are open to the public and are perfect for parent groups, homeschool groups and more. Groups may participate in the following activities:

  • Self-guided tours
  • Radish seed planting
  • Chick education
  • Oxen demonstration
  • Crop education

Make It, Take It – Sweet & Simple Food Preservation and Body Care, Feb. 7

Learn safe, science-based food preservation techniques while creating a maple walnut syrup and two handmade body scrubs that are perfect for enjoying or gifting this Valentine’s season.

When: Saturday, Feb. 7, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.; RSVP by Jan. 31
Where: OC Fair & Event Center – Centennial Farm Silo Building
How much: $45 class fee covers ingredients, handouts and two canning jars with lids and rings. Knives will be provided, but you may bring your own if preferred. Aprons are highly recommended. Tied-back hair and closed-toe shoes are required.
Refund policy: No refunds for cancellations made within seven days of a class. For cancellations made prior, only the class fee will be refunded. Booking fees are nonrefundable.

Ranch Discovery Day, Feb. 11

Saddle up for Ranch Discovery Day and experience an educational adventure all about horses and more! The Ranch will come alive with horses, livestock and interactive demonstrations, creating a memorable day for visitors of all ages!

What to expect:

  • Meet horses, chickens and rabbits
  • Explore horse care and grooming
  • Learn about horses in the military
  • Discover the world of bees
  • Stick horse rodeo activity for kids
  • Watch horse demonstrations
  • Check out our horse boarding areas including box stalls, arenas and other amenities

Dinosaur Adventure, Feb. 14 – 15

Gem Faire, Feb. 20 – 22

Centennial Farm

Centennial Farm is home to fruit and vegetable gardens, livestock and the Millennium Barn. Two youth educational tour programs are offered – Discovery Days and Jr. Farmer Tours – as well as daily hours so the public can visit our year-round working farm.

Heroes Hall

Heroes Hall is a free, permanent, year-round museum and education center with exhibitions, performances and educational programs that celebrate the legacy of Orange County veterans and others who have served our nation. The two-story exhibition space will rotate themes with each focusing on an aspect of the personal stories and experiences of veterans.

The current exhibit, “Echoes of Conflict: Remembering Vietnam,” offers a powerful and immersive journey through one of modern history’s most complex and divisive conflicts. Through a rich collection of artifacts, personal stories, historical facts and poignant memorabilia, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the war’s profound impact on the soldiers who fought and the broader global context. On display through Sept. 20.

The SAAAB Story is Heroes Hall’s permanent exhibit highlighting the WWII-era training center that once occupied the land where the OC Fairgrounds now stands. The refreshed exhibit is now open with new artifacts, memorabilia and stories to explore.

The Ranch Community Center

The Ranch Community Center celebrates horses, ranching and nature. Free or low-cost public programs are offered, including The Ranch Discovery Days, The Ranch After-School Program, horse shows and equine-assisted therapy. Visitors can connect with the equestrian community year-round during daily hours.

Pacific Coast Sportfishing Show, March 5 – 8

Southern California’s largest fishing tackle, boat, travel and outdoors show returns for its 16th year. Explore eight halls and 250,000 square feet of saltwater and freshwater fishing tackle, boats, travel destinations and everything outdoors. Families and children are welcome. Enjoy bands, activities and a free kids catch-and-release trout pond.

Scraps to Soil: Build Your Own Worm Compost Bin, March 21

Turn everyday kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost with the help of hardworking worms. This hands-on class will help participants feel confident venturing into vermiculture while building a simple mini worm bin to take home.

When: Saturday, March 21, 10 a.m. – noon.; RSVP by March 14.
Where:  OC Fair & Event Center – Centennial Farm Silo Building
How much: The class fee is $25 for adults and $5 for children ages 17 and under. All materials needed to create a mini worm compost bin during the class, including worms, are provided. Participants are encouraged to bring a pair of garden gloves.

Citrus for Southern California Gardens: Choosing, Growing and Caring for Trees, March 28

Whether you are planting your first citrus tree or looking to improve the health and productivity of established trees, this informative class led by Isabel Barkman provides practical, region-specific guidance. Participants will learn how to select citrus varieties best suited for Southern California, understand rootstocks and tree size and apply best practices for planting, watering, fertilizing, mulching and pruning. The class also covers seasonal care, common pests, diseases and tips for keeping citrus trees productive year after year. This lecture-based class is designed to build confidence and help gardeners make informed decisions for long-term citrus success.
